According to Sinan-gun on the 25th, the Chupo?Bigeum Yeondogyo Bridge Construction project had suffered setbacks by failing twice in preliminary feasibility studies in 2011 and 2014, but it secured feasibility due to changes in conditions following the opening effect of the Cheonsa Bridge and the activation of various linked tourist sites as part of Sinan-gun’s systematic development strategy. Among 38 nationwide projects worth 5.7 trillion KRW, two projects secured 440.9 billion KRW.
The projects that passed this preliminary feasibility study were confirmed after review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Financial Project Evaluation Committee, targeting projects over 50 billion KRW. The ‘5th National Road and National Road Construction Plan’ will be finally confirmed and announced along with projects under 50 billion KRW by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after mid-September.
Assemblyman Seo Sam-seok, who continuously persuaded central government ministries in connection with Jeonnam Province and Sinan-gun, said, “Passing the preliminary feasibility study is the result of the passion and efforts of Sinan-gun, county council members, and residents,” and added, “We will strive to solve the island isolation problem and improve the convenience of residents’ lives in various fields.”
Park Woo-ryang, Mayor of Sinan-gun, said, “We plan to focus on the prompt commencement of the ‘Chupo?Bigeum Yeondogyo Bridge Construction’ and ‘Amtae Sinseok?Dango National Road Improvement’ projects to secure land transportation in the Bigeum and Docho areas and shorten the sea distance in the Heuksan and Hongdo areas, contributing to proactive preparation for the era of 10 million tourists and regional economic revitalization,” and added, “We will concentrate our capabilities to start construction early through close cooperation with Jeonnam Province and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.”
He also said, “On the 24th, a rainbow appeared on the Eunam Bridge connecting Jaeundo and Amtae, which seems to celebrate the result achieved after 10 years,” and “We will continue to work harder for the residents.”
