Blue House, Multi-Child University Tuition Exemption... Correction from All Households to Those Below 200% Median Income
Only the Bottom 80% Income Group Likely to Receive Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Blue House announced on the 24th that it would fully cover the college tuition fees from the third child onward for all multi-child families, but later corrected the statement to apply only to families with an income below 200% of the median income.
Park Kyung-mi, spokesperson for the Blue House, explained during a briefing around 4 p.m. that President Moon expressed an encouraging response to the decision to fully support tuition fees for the third and subsequent college students in multi-child families. The initial implication was that all multi-child families were eligible.
However, around 6 p.m., a revised notice clarified that the full tuition support applies only to the third and subsequent college students in multi-child families with an income below 200% of the median income.
