Gangdong Police Station Promotes Crime Prevention Environment Improvement Project for Single-Woman Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 24th that it is promoting the 'Residential Safety Zone' project to prevent crimes such as residential intrusion in areas densely populated by single female households within its jurisdiction.
The Residential Safety Zone project comprehensively analyzes security conditions such as ▲crime statistics ▲on-site diagnosis ▲complaints in areas densely populated by single female households within the jurisdiction to select residential safety zones in Gangdong-gu, focusing on creating a safe and peaceful living environment to prevent crime.
Additionally, to create a safe atmosphere, logo projectors projecting friendly images and phrases onto the floor or walls, full-body pole-type safety mirrors, and emergency bell LED signboards are installed along women's routes home. In connection with Gangdong-gu's Women’s Safety Village project, solar markers, which are luminous devices, are installed on alley floors, and intrusion detection devices and special fluorescent substances are applied to outdoor pipes to prevent residential intrusion.
Furthermore, Gangdong Police Station has certified 14 houses within its jurisdiction as Women’s Safety Houses so far, attaching certification plaques, using the 'Women’s Safety House Certification Evaluation Checklist' created based on Gangdong-gu’s safety housing design standards, which include 10 safety items such as ▲CCTV monitoring of entrants ▲unmanned parcel boxes ▲human detection night flashing lights ▲pipe visibility covers, and 5 living-related items such as women-priority parking lots. This has also shown an effect in reducing crime.
