23 Confirmed Cases in Gyeongnam, Double Digits for 5 Consecutive Days... "Impact of Reduced Weekend Testing"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 23rd that 23 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 occurred in the province after 5 p.m. on the 22nd.
By region, there were 13 cases in Changwon, 2 each in Yangsan and Haman, and 1 each in Sacheon, Miryang, Geoje, Hamyang, Geochang, and Hapcheon, all of which are local infections.
Among them, 13 people had contact with confirmed cases within the province.
Most were infected through family members, acquaintances, or coworkers.
The remaining 4 had contact with confirmed cases from other regions, and 6 are under investigation for their infection routes.
The number of confirmed cases has recorded double digits for five consecutive days, with 109 cases on the 18th, 90 on the 19th, 79 on the 20th, 57 on the 21st, and 54 on the 22nd.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to 9,416 (1,120 hospitalized, 8,269 discharged, 27 deceased).
Kwon Yang-geun, Director of Welfare and Health at Gyeongnam Province, said, "There were about 50 confirmed cases over the past weekend, marking the lowest number in the past month," adding, "This seems to be due to a decrease in the number of tests conducted over the weekend."
