Muju-gun, Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccine Administered as Needed
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 20th that it will conduct foot-and-mouth disease vaccine vaccinations as needed for cattle raised within the county until the end of August.
The vaccination targets are 193 households and 1,386 cattle raised in Muju County.
Cattle due for vaccination (the first vaccination is for calves aged 2 months, and the second vaccination is one month after the first vaccination) are eligible.
For specialized farms with 50 or more cattle, vaccines are purchased directly through the Mujinjang Livestock Cooperative and self-administered.
For small-scale farms, two vaccination teams will be organized to carry out vaccinations under the supervision of the farm owners.
The vaccine used is a bivalent vaccine that simultaneously prevents type O and type A foot-and-mouth disease. Vaccinations are conducted annually through mass vaccinations (first and second half of the year) and as-needed vaccinations (at 2-month intervals).
