The coding library, held as a special summer vacation program from the 12th to the 20th, is a project that the SW-Centered University Project Group at Chosun University has been conducting since last year after signing a "Business Agreement for AI·SW Education" with the Iyagikkot Library under Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The coding library, conducted for students residing in Gwangsan-gu, is recognized for leading the spread of AI·SW value through establishing a cooperative system and enhancing future core competencies.
The program included the "AI·SW Coding Library" for elementary students held from the 12th to the 13th of this month, followed by the "AI·SW Convergence Youth Coding Special Lecture" from the 18th to the 20th. Professors Jo Young-joo and Lee Kwang-ok, along with researcher Seo Hee-cheol from the SW-Centered University Project Group, participated in the program.
A student who participated in the program said, "I used to think SW and AI were difficult, but through the classes, I realized they are interesting fields. I was happy to be able to learn AI, which I had not studied before, before the summer vacation ended, and if I have the chance later, I would like to take the class again."
Professor Jo Young-joo said, "We hope to continuously provide educational opportunities so that our students are not left behind in the rapidly changing era in the AI·SW fields, and through program operation, we expect this to be a time to discover future talents early and develop their abilities."
The person in charge at Gwangsan-gu Iyagikkot Library expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank the SW-Centered University Project Group at Chosun University for providing customized AI·SW education tailored to the abilities and talents of our local students in the AI era," and added, "We hope to continue conducting AI·SW education programs with the SW-Centered University Project Group in the future."
Meanwhile, the SW-Centered University Project Group at Chosun University was selected as the only SW-Centered University in the Honam region in the 2017 Ministry of Science and ICT SW-Centered University project, and is conducting educational programs aimed at nurturing SW professionals leading the 4th Industrial Revolution through SW literacy education and specialized SW major education.
