Jeonbuk Provincial Council Explores Policy Directions for 'Carbon Neutrality Realization Green New Deal'

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The Jeonbuk Provincial Council is working tirelessly to explore the direction of Jeonbuk-style Green New Deal policies to achieve carbon neutrality.

The Council's Green New Deal Research Group (Representative Assembly Member Guk Ju-young-eun) visited the Jeonju Energy Center and the Wanju Transition Technology Social Cooperative on the 20th to listen to voices from the field.

The Jeonju Energy Center is an intermediary support organization promoting citizen participation projects in energy saving, efficiency, and production to create an energy self-sufficient city.

Additionally, the Wanju Transition Technology Cooperative is engaged in research, development, and education of appropriate technologies necessary for a sustainable ecological society.

Prior to this, on the 19th, the Research Group jointly held a policy seminar with the Green New Deal TF of the Korea Council of Local Governments for the Green New Deal, focusing on an energy information platform that provides a comprehensive view of regional energy.

At the seminar, speakers such as Kim Yeon-ji, Head of Environmental Citizen Cooperation Division of Seoul City, and Dr. Lee Yoo-jin from the Green Transition Research Institute emphasized the urgency of establishing institutional foundations for carbon neutrality and transitioning to a fair and just carbon-neutral society.

Guk Ju-young-eun, leading the Research Group, expressed, “While visiting rural villages to observe necessary life technologies and open workshops, I empathized with the need for energy self-sufficiency projects and energy transition to overcome the crisis of modern society optimized for fossil fuels and nuclear energy.”
