MFDS Begins Preliminary Review of Russian COVID-19 Vaccine 'Covivac'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Director Kim Gang-rip) announced on the 20th that MP Corporation has applied for a preliminary review prior to the approval application for the Russian CoviVac COVID-19 vaccine.
The CoviVac vaccine is not among the vaccines planned for introduction by the government.
This vaccine is an inactivated vaccine that received emergency use authorization in Russia in February this year, but it has not yet been approved in countries outside Russia, such as the United States and Europe. An inactivated vaccine is one that kills the virus and injects it as an antigen into the body to induce an immune response.
MP Corporation applied for a preliminary review of non-clinical (toxicity and efficacy tests) data in accordance with the provisions of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
