Jeonbuk Province Extends Current Social Distancing Measures for 2 More Weeks
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 20th that, in accordance with government policy, social distancing will be extended for 2 weeks from the 23rd of this month to September 5th, and the allowance for private gatherings will be unified to up to 4 people in all cities and counties.
Accordingly, the areas under level 3 distancing?Jeonju, Gunsan, Iksan, and Wanju (Innovation City)?and the level 2 areas?Jeongeup, Namwon, Jinan, Muju (excluding Mupung-myeon), Jangsu, Imsil, Sunchang, Gochang, and Wanju (excluding Innovation City areas)?will maintain their current levels for an additional 2 weeks.
However, Gimje City and Buan County, which had independently raised their level to 3 due to a rapid increase in cases, have decided to downgrade to level 2 as the local outbreak situation is being stably managed.
Regarding the pinpoint quarantine target, ‘Muju-gun Mupung-myeon,’ it will be elevated to level 3 until the 29th of this month to proactively block group infections among foreigners.
As for the application of quarantine rules, throughout Jeonbuk Province, regardless of the distancing level, private gatherings are limited to 4 people, immediate family members to 4 people, wedding meetings to 8 people, and first birthday parties (Doljanchi) to 16 people.
A provincial official stated, “In the severe situation of the 4th wave, we ask for the participation of all residents to minimize public inconvenience and to form herd immunity through smooth vaccination progress.”
