Busan Tunnel and Daeti Tunnel Voice Warning System Construction ... Nighttime Traffic Control Implemented

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Construction work to install a voice warning system in Busan Tunnel and Daeti Tunnel has begun, resulting in traffic control.
The Busan City Construction Safety Testing Office announced on the 20th that Busan Tunnel will close one lane of the southbound side towards Yeongju-dong from August 25 to September 2, and Daeti Tunnel will close one lane on either the northbound or southbound side depending on the construction progress from August 23 to 27.
To minimize inconvenience to citizens and traffic congestion, the control will be implemented only during late-night hours from 11 PM to 5 AM the following day on the specified dates.
This voice warning system installation project is being carried out to broadcast warnings that raise awareness for safe driving, such as maintaining a safe distance between vehicles inside the tunnel.
The Construction Safety Testing Office expects the warning broadcasts to have a significant effect on preventing traffic accidents inside the tunnels.

Go Hyun-jung, head of the Construction Safety Testing Office, said, “We plan to complete the work quickly during the traffic control period to minimize inconvenience to citizens,” adding, “Once the traffic safety infrastructure such as warning broadcasts is established in Busan Tunnel and Daeti Tunnel, it is expected to greatly help in accident prevention.”
