Eurozone Posts 22 Billion Euro Current Account Surplus in June
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The European Central Bank (ECB) announced on the 19th that the Eurozone recorded a current account surplus of 22 billion euros in June.
The current account surplus for the 12 months ending in June amounted to 316 billion euros. This corresponds to 2.8% of the Eurozone's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It is an increase of 235 billion euros compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, over the 12 months, Eurozone residents were net buyers of foreign portfolio investment securities worth 935 billion euros. Non-residents' net purchases of portfolio investment securities in the Eurozone amounted to 54 billion euros.

The current account surplus, previously reported as 12 billion euros, was revised to 14 billion euros.
