The Wood Culture Experience Center is a facility that provides comprehensive knowledge and information about wood, as well as various hands-on experiences.
The city demolished the old Nanjeon Exhibition Hall and invested a total project cost of 3 billion KRW (600 million KRW from the city budget) to build the Wood Culture Experience Center with a scale of 856㎡, consisting of one basement floor and two above-ground floors. Construction began in June 2020 and was completed last July.
Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo, stated, “The Wood Culture Experience Center is expected to provide comprehensive knowledge and information about wood and improve convenience for leisure activities. We will develop programs considering the levels and abilities of different groups such as infants, adolescents, and the general public, and actively support the production of useful wooden products for everyday life.”
The Wood Culture Experience Center is expected to become a hub for woodworking communities where people can experience the excellence and diversity of sustainable traditional wood culture, personally craft wood, and create wooden products.
The Wood Culture Experience Center includes an eco-friendly wooden toy playground for infants, two woodworking experience rooms for infants and elementary school students, one woodworking experience room for adults, a woodworking machinery room, and spaces where various age groups can experience wood culture, as well as rest areas and an outdoor lawn plaza.
