Gwangju Seo-gu Nongsung 1-dong Welfare Association Holds Samgyetang Sharing Event
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Community Security Council of Nongsung 1-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Private Chairman Jo Young-sook) announced on the 19th that it held a nutritious Samgyetang sharing event on the 18th at Gwangju Sowonjeongsa to revitalize neighbors in need of care in the area.
This event was hosted by Sowonjeongsa and sponsored by Beomryunsa (Chief Monk Wolin), Jabisinhaenghoe (Representative Lee Hwa-young), and Namdo Food (Representative Lee Gye-su). The Samgyetang, carefully prepared by believers and volunteers, was individually packaged with radish kimchi and 100 sets of Samgyetang were delivered to Yang 3-dong and Nongsung 1-dong respectively.
In Nongsung 1-dong, about 35 members including the Community Security Council members and neighborhood leaders visited neighbors vulnerable to heat waves and elderly living alone households, checking on their well-being amid the ongoing heat wave and delivering nutritious Samgyetang to help them have a healthy summer.
Chairman Jo Young-sook said, “In these tiring and difficult times due to COVID-19 and the heat wave, we hope a bowl of Samgyetang can be a small but strong support to neighbors around us,” and urged special care and attention to neighbors vulnerable to heat waves such as elderly living alone and residents of jjokbangchon (small room villages).”
Meanwhile, the Nongsung 1-dong Community Security Council is promoting various projects to improve the welfare of neighbors in need of care in the area, such as sharing healthy side dishes for care neighbors and emergency support 119.
