[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City, Gyeonggi Province, will recruit 376 young people to participate in the 'Gyeonggi-do Youth Worker Savings Account' project from the 24th of this month to the 2nd of next month to support the improvement of self-reliance foundations such as startup, housing costs, and education expenses for youth.
This project provides a lump sum of about 5.8 million KRW (including 1 million KRW in local currency) after two years, combining Gyeonggi-do support funds and interest, when a young person maintains work activity for two years and saves 100,000 KRW monthly.
Applicants must be youth workers aged between 18 and 34 as of the recruitment announcement date (August 17 of this year) residing in Gyeonggi-do. Participation is possible if the household income recognized amount is below 100% of the median income standard, and not only regular workers but also part-time or temporary workers can apply.
In this project, those fulfilling military service obligations have their application age extended up to 39 years old corresponding to the period of military service, and 'those with long-term overdue student loans who are under installment repayment agreements' have been added as an additional 5-point bonus item.
However, participants and beneficiaries of national and local government asset-building support projects similar to the Gyeonggi-do Youth Worker Savings Account, public officials, employees of public institutions, those currently fulfilling military service obligations, and those engaged in illegal entertainment businesses, illegal gambling, or illegal speculative businesses are not eligible to participate.
