Gyeonggi-do to Open Pre-Registration from 19th Ahead of Next Month's 'Data Sovereignty International Forum'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province began pre-registration on the 19th ahead of the 'Data Sovereignty International Forum' scheduled for the 8th of next month.
The international forum, held both on-site and online at the Goyang KINTEX Exhibition Center 2, is themed "Creating a Fair Data World Together." It is a platform to discuss methods and the role of users in building a fair data world centered on individual rights where everyone can thrive.
All overseas speakers (including 10 experts such as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who will deliver the keynote speech) have been secured.
Four overseas local governments and organizations that received invitations under the name of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung have expressed their intention to participate, including Tallinn, Estonia; Queensland, Australia; the European Union (EU); and UNICEF.
In particular, Annastacia Palaszczuk, Premier of Queensland, Australia, sent a direct reply letter expressing her intention to attend. It is reported that an additional 3 to 4 institutions are currently considering participation.
From the 19th, the province will hold a 'Data Sovereignty Webinar' featuring cases from domestic and international participating organizations, and a 'Pre-registration Event' to recruit online participants for the main event, the 'Data Sovereignty International Forum.'
Pre-registration is free and available on the event website. Registered participants will receive links to join the webinar and the event via email or text message.
The Data Sovereignty Webinar will be released in two phases before the event. The first phase on August 27 will focus on domestic cases, including the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee and the Personal Information Protection Commission, which are sponsoring organizations. The second phase on September 3 will feature pre-recorded videos focusing on overseas cases from Estonia, Australia, and the European Union (EU), which will be broadcast step-by-step.
Additionally, from the 25th, the province will conduct an Instagram 'Participation Campaign' and a 'Data Sovereignty Propensity Test' event. Detailed information can be found on the event website and Gyeonggi Province’s social media channels.
To ensure the successful hosting of the event, the province selected 23 'Data Sovereignty Supporters' on the 23rd of last month to help the general public easily understand concepts that may seem difficult, such as 'data sovereignty' and 'MyData.' So far, 74 easy and fun contents have been provided through the supporters’ blogs and Instagram accounts.
