[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, held the 17th briefing on COVID-19 related to Geochang County at 11 a.m. on the 18th in the county office situation room.
He announced that all public facilities such as sports, culture, and welfare facilities will be closed for one week from midnight on the 8th until midnight on the 24th, and all events and education organized by the county will be fully postponed or canceled.
Following the occurrence of 2 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the 15th and a total of 11 confirmed cases over 4 days until the 18th, the county decided to close public facilities and cancel events for one week. An emergency briefing was held to urge active participation from residents in the ‘Pause for a Moment’ campaign.
On the 15th, the county installed two temporary mobile screening clinics in the Family Area and tested 276 contacts and village residents.
After additional confirmed cases on the 17th, a temporary mobile screening clinic was set up in front of Gajo-myeon Office, and a full inspection of Gajo residents will be conducted until the 20th to thoroughly prevent and block the spread of the infection source.
Additionally, on the 17th, temporary screening clinics were installed at Buksang Elementary School and Goje Church, facilities related to the confirmed patients’ movement paths, and testing was conducted.
The county plans to mobilize all administrative power to respond quickly to COVID-19 outbreaks through epidemiological investigations, operation of screening clinics, and full inspections to minimize spread, and will impose strong administrative measures on businesses or individuals violating quarantine rules.
