Singapore to Provide Compensation for Side Effects After Vaccination
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Singapore is providing compensation to citizens who experience severe side effects after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the dpa news agency on the 18th (local time), the Singapore government has paid a total of 782,000 Singapore dollars (approximately 670 million KRW) to 144 vaccine recipients who suffered severe side effects.
The Ministry of Health stated that among the compensation recipients was a 16-year-old boy who suffered a heart attack after vaccination.
The boy's family received 225,000 Singapore dollars (approximately 190 million KRW).
The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) under the Singapore Ministry of Health announced two days ago that as of the end of last month, 10,000 people experienced side effects after vaccination, of which 400 were severe cases.
Out of Singapore's total population of 5.7 million, 4.2 million have completed their vaccinations.
