Jeonbuk Province to Establish the '3rd Detailed Implementation Plan for Climate Change Adaptation' by Year-End
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 17th that it plans to complete the establishment of the "3rd Jeollabuk-do Climate Change Adaptation Detailed Implementation Plan" by the end of this year to respond to rapidly changing climate change.
This project is a five-year plan established in accordance with Article 48 of the related law, the "Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth," as the 2nd detailed implementation plan (2017-2021) expires this year.
The previous 2nd plan, under the vision of "Building a Sustainable Jeollabuk-do through Climate Change Adaptation" in 2016, established and is implementing 20 major strategies and 38 detailed projects across five sectors: disaster and water management, agriculture, health, forest and ecosystem, and marine.
Jeonbuk Province plans to include in the 3rd implementation plan the identification of improvements based on the performance evaluation of the 2nd plan, analysis of climate change impacts and adaptation capacity, vulnerability assessment and selection of priority areas, and preparation of project-specific and annual implementation plans.
Currently, a climate change adaptation awareness survey, provincial vulnerability analysis, climate change risk factor assessment, and analysis of regional status and conditions are underway. Going forward, Jeonbuk Province explained that it will establish an implementation plan tailored to the characteristics of Jeollabuk-do by collecting opinions from related experts and linking with the higher-level national climate change adaptation measures.
