People's Revolutionary Party Holds Daily Press Conferences... "Stop Suppressing Participants in Walking Movement"
On August 15, Liberation Day, police erected barricades around Sejong-daero near Gwanghwamun in Seoul to prevent illegal gatherings. The National Revolutionary Party announced that during the three-day Liberation Day holiday, they would conduct the "Moon Jae-in Impeachment 8·15 10 Million One-Person Walking Movement" in downtown areas such as Donghwa Duty-Free Shop, Seoul City Hall, and Seoul Station. The police plan to block this, viewing it as an illegal assembly disguised as a one-person protest. Photo by Kim Hyun-min kimhyun81@

The National Revolutionary Party held a press conference in front of Donghwa Duty Free Shop in Jongno-gu on the same day, stating, "The police blocked the sidewalks of Gwanghwamun and Jongno, allowing some to pass while preventing citizens holding the Taegeukgi from passing, committing acts reminiscent of Japanese police officers during the Japanese colonial period." They added, "There were incidents where citizens protested against the police at certain locations, but this is the responsibility of the police who blocked the roads, and unfair investigations against the citizens should not be conducted."
They also claimed, "We will file charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of business against Police Commissioner Kim Chang-ryong, who obstructed the National Revolutionary Party from reaching the press conference venue, as well as individual police officers who committed illegal acts under orders from superiors."
Earlier, from August 14 to 16, the National Revolutionary Party held the '8.15 Liberation Day Commemorative National One-Person Walking Exercise' in downtown Seoul and conducted party member recruitment activities. During this process, party member Park (54) was arrested on the spot on charges of threatening police officers while holding a safety fence installed by the police and assaulting a police officer who tried to stop him. The police applied for an arrest warrant for Park, but the Seoul Central District Court dismissed it the day before, stating "there is no risk of flight."
