MarkVision Secures Investment from SoftBank Ventures for Global Market Expansion
Additional 2.4 Billion KRW Investment Secured... Seed Investment Totaling 6 Billion KRW Completed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] AI startup MarkVision (CEO Inseop Lee) announced on the 17th that it has secured 2.4 billion KRW in investment from SoftBank Ventures to actively enter the Asian market.
The two companies agreed to actively cooperate on ▲establishing a global e-commerce collaboration system for intellectual property (IP) protection competitiveness ▲rapid expansion of counterfeit product monitoring services in the Asian market ▲discovering global enterprise clients urgently needing IP protection.
With this investment, MarkVision has completed a total seed investment round of 6 billion KRW and plans to actively invest in strengthening product competitiveness and expanding IP business areas to become a global IP protection platform.
First, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) sales team operating from the Seoul office will expand its sales branches to Hong Kong, Japan, and other locations. In China, a separate business development team will be established to form partnerships with local e-commerce companies and strengthen competitiveness in responding to IP infringements within China. In the second half of this year, the company plans to launch a new 'illegal content monitoring' service and target global content companies requiring IP protection.
SoftBank Ventures is reported to have highly evaluated MarkVision's differentiated business model and proprietary AI technology related to IP protection. SoftBank Ventures plans to actively utilize its existing investment portfolio and the global e-commerce network within the SoftBank Group, including Alibaba, to support MarkVision's overseas expansion.
Joonpyo Lee, CEO of SoftBank Ventures, said, "MarkVision is creating a new category of industry never seen before by leading with an AI-based counterfeit product monitoring solution," adding, "We expect many areas where SoftBank Ventures can create synergy with MarkVision's global market entry."
