[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pulmuone Foods announced on the 17th that its new summer fresh noodle products, such as Naengmyeon and Makguksu, are receiving a great response in the market and are recording the highest sales ever.
Pulmuone recorded its best performance in July, the peak season for summer noodle products like Naengmyeon and Makguksu, with sales increasing by 84.3% compared to last year. Pulmuone analyzed that the popularity of various products introduced in line with technological innovation and consumer demand, especially the Makguksu launched for the first time this year, contributed to results beyond expectations.
In May, Pulmuone completed the construction of a ‘state-of-the-art home meal replacement (HMR) fresh noodle factory’ in Daeso-myeon, Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, integrating the latest facilities and the best domestic noodle-making know-how. The company expressed its ambition to innovate the domestic fresh noodle market so that consumers can easily and deliciously enjoy high-quality noodle dishes at home.
There were also changes in the product lineup. In the summer noodle market, where Naengmyeon had an absolute share, Pulmuone newly introduced two Makguksu products targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z): Chuncheon-style Buckwheat Makguksu and Perilla Oil Buckwheat Makguksu. Makguksu achieved cumulative sales of 2.5 million packs over five months since its launch.
The Naengmyeon products were also diversified. Five types of Naengmyeon?Pyongyang Naengmyeon, Gourmet Buckwheat Mul Naengmyeon with rich meat flavor, Spicy Gourmet Buckwheat Bibim Naengmyeon, Dongchimi Naengmyeon, and Hamheung Bibim Naengmyeon?are the result of the latest facilities combined with Pulmuone’s 30 years of noodle-making technology, expanding consumer choices.
