"5G Smartphone Sales Reach $108 Billion This Year... Triple Growth by 2025"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] An analysis has emerged that global 5G smartphone sales will surpass $100 billion this year. By 2025, it is expected to grow more than threefold, accounting for 50% of the total market.
According to the '5G Smartphones: Trends, Regional Analysis, and Market Outlook 2021-2026' report released on the 16th (local time) by market research firm Juniper Research, global 5G smartphone sales this year are estimated to reach $108 billion (approximately 126 trillion KRW).
This is a result of the full-scale expansion of 5G services in various countries and the continuous release of new devices supporting 5G, ranging from premium to entry-level models.
By 2025, global 5G smartphone sales are expected to increase more than threefold from this year, reaching $337 billion. Juniper Research predicted, "By 2025, 5G smartphone sales will account for half of the total device sales."

They added, "For 5G smartphone sales to expand in emerging markets, the availability of mid- to low-priced 5G devices must increase," and "Price reductions of Android phones will help Android models dominate the 5G market in regions such as Latin America."
