Jung Se-kyun: "Moon Administration's Real Estate Policy Completely Disregarded Market Principles, Lost Trust"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim So-young] Jeong Se-gyun, former Prime Minister and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, raised his voice criticizing the Moon Jae-in administration's real estate policy, saying it "did not respect market principles at all."
On the 16th, Jeong responded to the question "Please point out the shortcomings of the Moon Jae-in administration" at a talk concert hosted by 'The Mincho,' a gathering of first-term Democratic Party lawmakers, by saying "the housing issue."
He explained, "The focus was only on suppressing speculative demand and imposing regulations," adding, "Therefore, the policy direction shifted to expanding supply starting from the August 4th measures last year."
He lamented, "Nevertheless, because policies were excessively issued multiple times, the public lost trust in the real estate measures, so even if you say you can make soybean paste from soybeans, they won't believe it."
Regarding the lifting of employment restrictions on Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, he drew a line by saying, "It must be judged according to the law without exception." He added, "I believe that the responsible authorities considered that the public views this issue differently from the two presidential pardons and decided on parole accordingly. Those responsible must deliberate carefully."

On the same day, Jeong also shared an anecdote about former President Roh Moo-hyun. He said, "Former President Roh said, 'We cannot properly govern the country this way, so I will shorten my term by one year to hold the general election and presidential election together, and the party that wins the presidential election will govern stably as the majority party,'" adding, "I strongly opposed, saying, 'We must never do anything that destroys the constitution.'"
