Gyeonggi-do Provides Up to 3 Million Won for Hanok Repair Costs
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will support up to 3 million KRW for Hanok repair costs.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it will proceed with the 'Hanok Architecture Small-scale Repair Emergency Support Project,' which supports half of the Hanok repair costs (up to 3 million KRW), and will accept applications until the 15th of next month.
The project targets Hanoks in the province that require urgent small-scale repairs such as damaged roof tiles or aged wood, with a total construction cost within 6 million KRW.
The province has allocated a total budget of 60 million KRW to support this project.
According to the ordinance, the province plans to decide on the support eligibility and amount through the review of the Architectural Committee and will provide the support funds after the completion of the Hanok repairs.
A provincial official stated, "There are limitations in managing Hanoks due to higher maintenance costs compared to regular houses," and added, "We hope this project will preserve the unique beauty and dignity of Hanoks."
