Gubong Elementary School had faced difficulties regarding its relocation as it was included in the area of the Gaya Historical and Cultural Environment Improvement Project promoted by Gimhae.
After several public-private consultations among parents centered on the School Emergency Countermeasures Committee, the Gyeongnam Office of Education, and Gimhae City, the relocation business agreement was finalized.
The Office of Education and the city have actively cooperated, including confirming the relocation of three educational institutions at the center of the Gaya Historical and Cultural Environment Improvement Project (Gimhae Education Support Office, Gimhae Middle School, and Gimhae Construction Technical High School).
According to the agreement, the Gyeongnam Office of Education will proceed with construction for Gubong Elementary School on the remaining site of the current Gimhae Construction Technical High School, and the city will support various administrative procedures and facilities related to the relocation and educational facilities.
Superintendent Park Jong-hoon said, “Through the successful completion of the Gaya History Restoration Project, we expect Gubong Elementary School to become a model small urban school with the country's only school museum and various historical and cultural experience conditions.”
