Samsung Heavy Industries "Resumption of US Petrobras Compensation Lawsuit"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 12th that the appellate court has decided to resume the substantive trial of the damages lawsuit filed by Petrobras in the United States against the company.
In March 2019, Petrobras filed a civil damages lawsuit seeking $250 million related to the drillship (DS-5) delivered by Samsung Heavy Industries in 2011.
Samsung Heavy Industries stated, "In June last year, the U.S. Federal District Court in Texas accepted our statute of limitations defense and dismissed the lawsuit," adding, "On the 12th, the U.S. appellate court accepted Petrobras's appeal against the dismissal and decided to resume the substantive trial of the first instance."
