[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A nurse in Germany deliberately injected citizens with saline solution instead of the COVID-19 vaccine, causing about 9,000 victims to require revaccination.
According to foreign media such as NDR and The Guardian, German authorities became aware of the "saline injection" incident in April. At that time, it was investigated that a nurse at a vaccination center in Friesland, northern Germany, accidentally broke one vial of the Pfizer vaccine while preparing syringes and filled only six syringes?the equivalent of one vial?with saline solution.
However, recent police investigations revealed that the nurse had replaced the vaccine with saline multiple times.
From March 5 to April 20, German health authorities conducted antibody tests on citizens vaccinated at the center who might have received the fake vaccine.
However, it was determined that antibody tests could not reliably confirm proper vaccination, and plans are being considered to revaccinate about 9,000 people. The individuals discussed for revaccination in Germany are all reportedly aged 70 or older.
