Samsung Electronics Opens Competitive Bidding for 6 In-House Cafeterias... Expanding Access to External Catering Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Su-yeon Woo] Samsung Electronics is expanding the external opening of its group catering by launching a competitive bidding process for six in-house cafeterias. Samsung Electronics plans to limit the bidding to small and medium-sized catering companies, establishing a win-win cooperation model between large corporations and small businesses.
On the 11th, Samsung Electronics announced a public bidding for selecting catering companies for six in-house cafeterias at its business sites in Suwon, Gwangju, and Gumi to provide employees with diverse menus and improved services. This follows the opening of two in-house cafeterias in the first half of the year, marking an additional expansion.
This bidding is conducted targeting small and medium-sized catering companies to practically expand mutual growth, with additional points awarded to small businesses and companies located in the regions where the cafeterias are situated. The bidding evaluation consists of three stages: document screening, presentation evaluation, on-site inspection, and employee food tasting sessions. The new operating companies are expected to be finalized around November.
Since June, Samsung Electronics has been outsourcing the operation of two in-house cafeterias at its Suwon and Giheung business sites to external catering companies selected through competitive bidding, and plans to gradually open all in-house cafeterias in the future.
