Ssangbyeol Ggitturami Fermented Extract, Effective for Wrinkle Improvement
Jeonju Agricultural Life Material Research Institute Discovers Functional Material from Ssangbyeol Cricket Fermented Extract
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Han-ho] The Jeonju Agricultural Life Material Research Institute (Director Oh Byung-jun) announced on the 10th that the functional material of fermented extract from Ssangbyeol Cricket, which they independently discovered, has been confirmed to prevent the decrease of skin elasticity and also be effective in improving wrinkles.
Ssangbyeol Cricket, a subtropical insect belonging to the Gryllidae family, is rich in protein as well as iron, zinc, copper, vitamin B7, and essential amino acids, making it not only a protein source but also known to be effective in improving obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
The institute stated that through this study, they confirmed that the fermented extract of Ssangbyeol Cricket significantly inhibits the activity of elastase, which reduces skin elasticity.
They added that it also suppresses the activity of collagenase, which induces skin wrinkle formation, showing great effects on skin elasticity and wrinkle improvement.
The research results were published in issue 2 of the Journal of Korean Herbal Medicine, a domestic academic journal indexed in KCI (Korean Citation Index), and the related technology has been filed for one domestic patent.
Since the Jeonju Agricultural Life Material Research Institute, along with several local governments including Jeollabuk-do, is breeding Ssangbyeol Cricket, it is expected to help improve the economic power of insect farming households and insect processing companies.
