Heo Kyung-young, Honorary Representative of the National Revolutionary Party, announced on the 10th that he will run for president. Heo held a press conference at the National Revolutionary Party office in Yeouido, Seoul, to express his intention to run for the presidential election.
Heo also pledged to prohibit punishment of former presidents and implement a differentiated fine system based on income and property. He stated, "If I become president, I will unconditionally give 100 million won to everyone aged 18 to 100 within one month," revealing his so-called 'cash payment' pledge.
Heo said, "Now, a real technician must come forward," adding, "If not Heo Kyung-young, this country is impossible."
Meanwhile, the official presidential candidacy declaration is scheduled to take place on the 18th at Haengju Fortress. Heo's camp stated, "To honor the spirits of our ancestors who fought against foreign invasions and to reaffirm the determination for national reform, attendees including Honorary Representative Heo Kyung-young will wear Haengju skirts to share the sentiment."
Heo Kyung-young began his political career by running for the Eunpyeong District Council in Seoul in 1991 and ran unsuccessfully in the 15th presidential election in 1997 and the 17th presidential election in 2007.
