Jangseong-gun Launches Full-Scale Development of Chukryeongsan Tourism Resources Worth 20 Billion Won
[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Chukryeongsan Mountain in Jangseong, Jeonnam is actively developing tourism resources to establish itself as a representative healing travel destination in Korea.
According to the county on the 9th, major projects including over 20 billion KRW in national funding are being actively promoted around Chukryeongsan Mountain.
The most notable project is the "Chukryeongsan Sky Forest Trail Construction Project." With a total project cost of 4.4 billion KRW including national funds, construction began in June.
The Chukryeongsan Sky Forest Trail Construction Project involves creating an 860-meter-long barrier-free deck trail in the forest. The barrier-free deck trail is designed with gentle slopes and no stairs, allowing elderly people and children to walk comfortably.
Depending on the section, the trail is installed up to 10 meters above ground, allowing walkers to enjoy the magnificent forest scenery while walking.
The location is around San 24-68, Chuam-ri, where a wooden bridge, observatory, and rest areas will be installed, with completion expected around next year.
At the upper part of Chukryeongsan Mountain, spanning Jangseong and Gochang counties, the Korea Forest Service is promoting the "Chukryeongsan-Munsusan Spatial Recreation Project (Noryeongsanmaek Recreation and Healing Belt Project)" with a national budget of 9 billion KRW.
This project aims to develop 388 hectares of forest in Jangseong’s Chukryeongsan and 110 hectares in Gochang’s Munsusan into forest healing and experience spaces.
Through the spatial recreation project, a barrier-free forest trail will be created from the upper well site of Chukryeongsan to the Jangseong Healing Forest Information Center, connecting with the Sky Forest Trail, completing an approximately 2.9 km magnificent "forest deck trail" within Chukryeongsan.
Along with the development of forest tourism resources, the "Rural New Vitality Plus Project," which builds human infrastructure to enable the independent growth of local residents, is also attracting attention.
The Rural New Vitality Plus Project, a public contest project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, is a development system that revitalizes regions by utilizing rural resources based on local communities.
Ultimately, it aims for the sustainable growth of rural areas. The county proposed the "Hinoki Forest Harmony (林) Healing Travel Project" in 2019, was finally selected as a project site, and secured 7 billion KRW in project funds including national funding over four years.
Last year, support was provided for product development and content discovery using the hinoki forest to nine first-phase activity groups (118 people). Currently, recruitment for the second-phase activity groups is underway.
County Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, "Just as when planting a single tree, we consider in advance how the branches will grow and roots will take hold, we are actively attracting and implementing national-funded projects for the long-term development of Chukryeongsan. We will focus on solid project promotion so that Chukryeongsan can become a healing and leisure tourism mecca representing not only Honam but all of Korea."
