[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has established a solar power generation facility at the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) integrated depot in Cheongna International City and has begun full-scale electricity production.
According to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority on the 9th, the power generation facility installed on the roofs of the integrated depot management building and maintenance building, supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has a capacity of 80.58 kW and produces 106,000 kW of electricity annually.
This saves 14 million KRW in electricity bills each year and, when converted to carbon dioxide reduction, is equivalent to planting 7,200 30-year-old pine trees.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to install a 140 kW solar power generation facility next year at 'Art Center Incheon' in Songdo International City.
Additionally, a distribution project for solar power totaling 270 kW is underway for 90 households within the Incheon Free Economic Zone, expected to produce 348,000 kW of electricity annually. It is anticipated that each household will save between 50,000 and 100,000 KRW on their monthly electricity bills.
