Daejeon Solar Energy Research Center and Sejong-Cheongju Expressway to Receive Budget Allocation Next Year
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Sunhee] The government has decided to allocate next year's budget for the establishment of a shared research center for solar power companies in Daejeon, the Sejong-Cheongju Expressway, and the acceleration of the Chungbuk Line railway.
On the morning of the 9th, Ando Geol, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, held a budget consultation meeting for the Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong regions at the Chungnam Provincial Office to discuss regional pending projects, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced. This budget consultation meeting was the fourth session following those held for Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Gwangju-Jeolla-Jeju, and Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam regions.
At the meeting, Vice Minister Ando stated that budget would be invested in national balanced development projects including ▲Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2 Tram (Daejeon) ▲Sejong-Cheongju Expressway (Sejong) ▲Seokmun Industrial Complex Inbound Railway (Chungnam) ▲Chungbuk Line Railway Acceleration (Chungbuk).
Additionally, budget will be focused on regional balanced New Deal projects such as ▲Establishment of a Shared Research Center for Solar Power Companies (Daejeon) ▲Smart City National Pilot City (Sejong) ▲Insect Sericulture Industry Hub Complex (Chungbuk) ▲Desalination of Seawater in Daesan Coastal Industrial Area (Chungnam), as well as regulatory free zones projects including ▲Biomedical (Daejeon) ▲Autonomous Driving (Sejong) ▲Hydrogen Energy Transition and Carbon Reduction Construction Materials (Chungnam) ▲Smart Safety Control and Green Hydrogen (Chungbuk).

Meanwhile, Vice Minister Ando announced plans to actively invest in 18 national balanced development social overhead capital (SOC) projects such as the Pyeongtaek-Osong quadruple track, Southern Inland Line, and South Coast Tourist Road. Furthermore, budget demands will be reflected to initiate the 4th Railway Network Plan, which includes a total of 101 projects such as the Western Metropolitan Express and Gwangju-Daegu Line, with a project cost of 119.8 trillion won.
