Germany, Hyundai Motor, and Others Discuss Present and Future of Hydrogen-Related Technologies
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] A forum will be held where domestic and international experts discuss the promotion of hydrogen machinery technology to achieve carbon neutrality.
The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials announced on the 9th that it will hold the "2021 Global Forum on Mechanical Engineering" online on the 8th of next month under the theme "Hydrogen Machinery Technology, the Foundation of Carbon Neutrality," to review hydrogen machinery technology, a key to accelerating a carbon-neutral society.
Detlef Stolten, Director of the Energy and Climate Research Institute at the German J?lich Research Center, will emphasize the promotion of hydrogen technology to realize carbon neutrality in his keynote speech. Session 1, themed on hydrogen utilization technology, will feature presentations such as "The Arrival of the Hydrogen Society and Future Vision 2030" by Kim Se-hoon, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, and "Development of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Propulsion Ships Using Liquefied Hydrogen" by Steiner Madsen, CEO of Topica Ltd. of the Norwegian Wilhelmsen Shipping Group.
Session 2, focusing on large-scale hydrogen liquefaction, storage, and transportation, will include "The World of Hydrogen Built by Linde" by Werner Ponikva, CEO of Linde, a global leader in liquid hydrogen utilization, and "Plans for Building Liquefied Hydrogen Infrastructure in Korea" by Choi Byung-il, Head of the Plant Convergence Research Division at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials and leader of Korea's commercial-grade liquefied hydrogen plant research group.
Those wishing to participate can pre-register on the forum website to receive related materials such as the forum abstract book online. They can also submit questions to the speakers in advance. On the day of the forum, it will be broadcast live via the website and YouTube channel.
