Sancheong-gun, Expansion of Naerimadangmeori Access Road to Fulfill Residents' Requests
Recent Increase in Visitors... Enhancing Convenience for Local Residents and Others
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 5th that it has expanded the road between Madangmeori and Punggyeong Village in Naeri, Sancheong-eup, which was a long-awaited project for the residents.
According to the county, the existing road between Madangmeori and Punggyeong Village in Naeri was a narrow and old village access road, not an asphalt-paved road, with severe damage in many places, causing great inconvenience to residents.
In particular, since a valley flows right next to the road, there has been a risk of safety accidents when vehicles pass each other.
Recently, the number of houses, pensions, and cafes in the area has increased significantly, and the inconvenience for visitors has been pointed out as an issue to be resolved.
To address these inconveniences, the county spent 326 million KRW and carried out road expansion and paving construction for about four months from April to August this year.
With this expansion, the road width was increased from about 3 meters to 6-8 meters, making it easier for large vehicles such as SUVs to pass each other. In particular, the existing railing, which was low and weak and caused anxiety, was reconstructed to ensure safety. Safety signs were attached to the railing, and lane markings were added along with asphalt paving to enhance safety.
A county official said, “This road expansion project in the Naeri area is intended not only to secure traffic safety in the area where visitors have recently increased but also to improve the convenience of local residents. We will continue to strive to promote construction administration that helps residents' daily lives and the local economy.”
Meanwhile, Sancheong-gun is addressing small-scale resident wish projects this year with a budget of 15.8 billion KRW. These small-scale projects are being promoted across five sectors (construction administration, roads, rivers, agricultural infrastructure, and water supply).
