Nowon District and Sinan County Sign Mutual Business Agreement for Reuse of Gel Ice Packs
Oh Seung-rok, mayor of Nowon District, Seoul, attended the 'Nowon District-Sinan County Gel Ice Pack Reuse Mutual Business Agreement Ceremony' held at Sinan County Office in Jeollanam-do at 1:40 PM on the 4th.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲establishing gel ice pack reuse and promoting a successful culture of reuse ▲discovering and promoting demand sources for reused ice packs ▲activating participation of small and medium-sized merchants.
The district has been conducting a gel ice pack recycling project since June to reduce household waste and promote resource circulation.
Ice pack collection boxes capable of collecting gel-type ice packs made from microplastics, a major cause of environmental pollution, have been installed in 19 community service centers and 257 apartment complexes within the district, totaling 276 locations.
Collected gel ice packs are picked up and disinfected by specialized companies, then delivered to Sinan County, the final supplier, where they are reused for packaging seafood products nationwide.
The agreement ceremony proceeded with signing and exchanging the agreement documents and commemorative photos, attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok and Park Woo-ryang, Sinan County Governor, among others.
