President Moon to Personally Chair 'Global Vaccine Hub' Meeting on the 5th

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in will personally preside over the first meeting of the Global Vaccine Hub Promotion Committee at the Blue House on the 5th.
Im Se-eun, deputy spokesperson of the Blue House, stated in a written briefing on the 4th, "President Moon will hold the ‘K-Global Vaccine Hub Vision and Strategy Report Conference’ at 2:30 PM on the 5th in Yeomin 1 Hall at the Blue House, connecting the Government Seoul Office and Sejong Office via video." This event will also serve as the first meeting of the newly launched ‘Global Vaccine Hub Promotion Committee’.
Deputy Spokesperson Im emphasized, "Although the Prime Minister is the chairperson of the Global Vaccine Hub Promotion Committee, President Moon personally presiding over the first meeting reflects the government’s strong determination that securing vaccine sovereignty through domestic vaccine development and establishing a global vaccine production hub based on the world’s second-largest biopharmaceutical production capacity are of utmost importance."
At tomorrow’s event, following President Moon’s opening remarks, the Minister of Health and Welfare will report on the ‘K-Global Vaccine Hub Vision and Strategy’.
Deputy Spokesperson Im explained, "After the report, discussions will continue among private committee members, representatives of domestic companies, and relevant ministers and vice ministers regarding the vision and strategy for South Korea to leap forward as a vaccine powerhouse, triggered by the signing of the Korea-US Global Vaccine Partnership."
Meanwhile, from the government side, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, chairperson of the Global Vaccine Hub Promotion Committee, relevant ministers and vice ministers, as well as the Blue House’s Senior Secretary for Social Affairs and Economic Advisors are expected to attend. From the private sector, 12 private committee members of the Global Vaccine Hub Promotion Committee and representatives of South Korean vaccine-producing companies plan to participate.
