Namwon-si Promotes 'Support Project for Rental Fees of Dormitories for Small and Medium Enterprises'
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 30th that it will invest 90 million KRW of city funds to promote the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Dormitory Rental Support Project’ to create jobs and improve welfare levels that satisfy both companies and workers/job seekers.
This project targets manufacturing companies operating in the city, and it is the first time the city is implementing a program that supports up to 80% of the rental costs (up to 300,000 KRW per room/month) when business owners provide dormitories (studio apartments, apartments, villas, officetels, and other multi-family housing) to workers.
The support criteria limit up to 10 rooms per company, and companies that hire new employees (within 6 months of joining) will receive additional points during the selection evaluation.
The city plans to accept applications for the dormitory rental support project from the 1st to the 10th of next month (10 days), and companies wishing to apply can do so through the corporate support site of the executing agency, the Korea Automotive Technology Institute.
The city plans to expand the project next year if the effectiveness in resolving companies’ recruitment difficulties and increasing population inflow is proven through the evaluation in the second half of this year.
Mayor Lee Hwan-joo said, “We expect the dormitory rental support project to help promote employment in local companies, improve employment retention rates, and resolve chronic labor shortages,” adding, “We hope for active participation from companies and will continue to make efforts to create a business-friendly Namwon City.”
