Global Campaign Live Together Challenge
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Samho, Mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, participated in the global campaign LiveTogether challenge against racial discrimination.
The LiveTogether challenge is an international relay campaign against racial discrimination initiated by UNESCO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in opposition to racial discrimination and hate crimes that have worsened due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
On the 22nd, Mayor Kim of Gwangsan District took on the challenge after being nominated by Choi Hyungwook, Mayor of Dong District, Busan, stating, "Under no circumstances should anyone be discriminated against or become a target of crime because of their skin color."
He added, "Overcoming COVID-19 requires cooperation and solidarity with diverse foreign resident communities," and said, "In particular, since more than half of the foreign residents in Gwangju Metropolitan City live in Gwangsan District, it will become a community that recognizes differences and diversity."
