[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 29th, Samsung Electronics stated during its Q2 earnings conference call that it is "continuing various research and development efforts to secure sustainable technological capabilities in the DRAM and NAND sectors," and that it "will continue to maintain competitiveness in all aspects, including cost competitiveness and performance." Regarding NAND, the company said, "We have secured industry-leading etching technology competitiveness by stacking 128 layers with a single stack, and we are considering the timing and methods for how efficiently to build up these stacks." For DRAM, it explained, "Our 14nm-based DDR5 products apply extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, reducing the overall process steps and achieving cost reduction effects."
