One New COVID-19 Case Reported in Hwasun... Jeonnam No. 1995

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] One COVID-19 confirmed case related to a pub in Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City has been reported in Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do.

According to the county on the 29th, one resident who had contact with confirmed case number 4443 from Gangnam-gu, Seoul, underwent diagnostic testing the previous day and was ultimately confirmed positive.

The confirmed case, classified as Jeonnam 1995 (Hwasun 92), was confirmed to have had contact with Gangnam-gu 4443 at a pub in Dong-gu, Gwangju on the 24th.

The confirmed individual also showed suspected COVID-19 symptoms such as a sore throat and coughing.

The day before, eight confirmed cases related to two pubs in Dong-gu, which were visited by Gangnam-gu 4443, were reported in Gwangju.

Upon receiving the confirmation notification, the county immediately disinfected the residence of Jeonnam 1995 and secured CCTV footage from the residence to identify contacts and conduct diagnostic tests.

The confirmed case stayed at home from the day after contact with Gangnam-gu 4443 until the diagnostic test, so there are no known movements in the Hwasun area.

The county plans to conduct an in-depth epidemiological investigation by securing GPS and card transaction records to identify additional movements.

A county official said, “As travel increases during the vacation season, cases of infection through contact with confirmed cases from other regions are increasing in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. We ask everyone to refrain from visiting the metropolitan area and other regions, and to strictly follow quarantine rules such as banning private gatherings of five or more people and wearing masks.”
