Gyeonggi-do Supports 'Delivery Workers' Industrial Accident Insurance Premiums'
Up to 1 Year Support Covering 90% of Workers' Contributions
[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it will "support industrial accident insurance premiums for delivery workers" in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Service Incheon-Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters and the Gyeonggi Job Foundation.
According to the province, this project supports up to 90% of the workers' share of industrial accident insurance premiums for delivery riders and quick service workers within the province, for up to one year.
The province oversees the project overall, the Gyeonggi Job Foundation is responsible for recruiting eligible participants, verifying recipients, and disbursing support funds, while the National Health Insurance Service Incheon-Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters provides administrative information such as monthly industrial accident insurance premium payment records.
Although the rate of serious accidents is high, with 32 deaths among 18-24-year-old two-wheeled vehicle delivery workers over the past three years, the industrial accident insurance subscription rate remains low.
