KCC: "Two KBS Board Director Applicants Voluntarily Withdraw"
55 Applicants for KBS Directors, 22 Applicants for Visitjin Directors
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 28th that two applicants for the Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) board of directors withdrew their applications due to personal reasons on the 26th.
As a result of the KCC's two-week open recruitment for KBS directors and the Korea Broadcasting Promotion Foundation (Visiting Jin) directors from the 7th, 55 applicants applied for KBS directors and 22 for Visiting Jin directors. None of the total 77 applicants were disqualified under Article 48 of the Broadcasting Act and Article 8 of the Broadcasting Culture Promotion Act. With two applicants withdrawing, the remaining procedures will proceed with 75 applicants.

The KCC stated, "Since various measures have been newly introduced this year to broaden public participation in the appointment process of public broadcasting executives such as KBS and Visiting Jin directors, we will strive to ensure that all processes are conducted transparently."
