Gangdong Police Station Installs 'Voice Phishing Prevention' Wrapping Promotional Materials at Sangil Police Substation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 28th that it has installed a wrapping promotional material measuring 12 meters wide and 4 meters high on the outer wall of the Sangil Police Substation building to prevent voice phishing.
The police expect the promotional effect to be significant in preventing voice phishing, as there are 15,769 apartment units (about 60,000 residents) within the jurisdiction of the Sangil Police Substation, and Sangil Station nearby is used by more than 130,000 people daily on average.

A Gangdong Police official stated, "Since the second half of the year, there has been a flood of text messages claiming to offer government support or small business loans," adding, "Please remember that any calls or messages demanding deposits or cash transfers under the pretense of low-interest loans or government-supported loans, or requesting repayment of existing loans by threatening legal action for contract violations, are 100% scams."
