Wife Sexually Assaulted by Workplace Superior... Husband's National Petition
Suspect Denies Charges Saying "We Did It Because We Liked Each Other"...Netizens Confused
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Recently, a petition titled "My wife was raped by her workplace superior" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board, sparking public outrage.
A complaint has been filed alleging that a female social worker at a social welfare center in Jeonnam was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the center's director, prompting a police investigation. However, some parts of the petition have raised doubts about the police investigation, causing controversy.
According to the Naju Police Station in Jeonnam on the 27th, Ms. A, a woman in her 40s working as a social worker at a social welfare center in Naju, recently filed a complaint stating that she was sexually assaulted multiple times by her workplace superior, Director B.
The complaint reportedly states that "since November last year, the director of the social welfare center where I worked repeatedly raped me and forced me into acts of sexual nature."
The police immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the complaint and have booked the center director on charges of sexual intercourse and molestation by abuse of authority in the workplace, and are currently conducting an investigation. Mr. B reportedly denied the charges during the police investigation, claiming that "although sexual relations did occur, it was consensual because we liked each other."
A representative from the Naju Police Station said, "The claims from both sides are contradictory, and since the investigation is ongoing and there is concern about secondary damage, it is difficult to disclose detailed information," adding, "We are currently conducting a forensic examination of Mr. B's mobile phone to ascertain the exact circumstances."
This case became known after the victim's husband posted a message titled "My wife was raped by her workplace superior" on the Blue House National Petition Board on the 22nd.
In the petition, he stated, "The director is about 10 years younger than my wife," and "Since early April, the director has used his authority to exert power, repeatedly raping my wife and forcing her into acts of sexual nature multiple times."
The petitioner also raised doubts about the police investigation.
He claimed, "My wife filed a complaint with the police and requested the appointment of a public defender, but even after two weeks, we did not know who was appointed as the public defender," and "Only after the second investigation, without the assistance of a public defender, did we hear from the police that a public defender had already been appointed several days earlier."
He pointed out, "Initial investigation is crucial in sex crimes, but there has been no progress in basic steps such as on-site inspection, statements from center employees, and securing CCTV evidence," and "Even after more than two weeks since the complaint, we do not know if the suspect has even been questioned."

In response, the police explained, "The appointment of a public defender had already been requested, but we failed to notify separately, and statements from center employees and securing CCTV evidence have all been completed," adding, "The suspect's questioning was only slightly delayed due to these procedures."
