On the 26th, Pulmuone Foods announced that it will actively expand its new concept product, 'Healthy Tofu Noodles,' which replaces wheat noodles with protein-rich tofu, into the global market starting in August by exporting to Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
The export product is the same as the 'Healthy Tofu Noodles' released domestically and is produced at a tofu factory in Korea. Only the packaging design is changed for export, allowing global consumers to experience the popular domestic product as is.
Shipments will begin at the end of this month, and the product will be available in local markets by August. In Singapore, it will be introduced to local consumers through 'Cold Storage,' a major retailer operated by 'Dairy Farm.'
Since COVID-19, the number of people worldwide who consider health and the environment has increased, drawing attention to plant-based proteins. Based on its tofu business capabilities, Pulmuone is leading the global plant-based protein market in countries including the U.S., China, and Japan by introducing various products tailored to each country's trends. Starting with the export of the representative product Tofu Noodles, which has received great domestic response, Pulmuone plans to actively target the global plant-based protein market.
Along with opening the export gateway for Tofu Noodles to Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, Pulmuone is also exploring plans to expand export countries to Europe, the U.S., and Southeast Asia. Europe and the U.S. have long-established vegan markets with high interest in vegan products.
In fact, in the U.S., tofu is gaining attention as a plant-based protein wellness food that can replace meat, and sales of tofu by Pulmuone USA, Pulmuone's U.S. subsidiary, continue to increase. Southeast Asia, including Singapore, is rapidly growing its alternative meat market, such as plant-based meat, following global trends.
Pulmuone's Tofu Noodles have maintained popularity, surpassing 5 million units sold within one year of their domestic debut. Many consumers consistently choose Tofu Noodles for the advantage of reducing carbohydrate intake while enjoying noodle dishes. Accordingly, Pulmuone introduced the 'Tofu Noodle KIT' in April, a home meal replacement (HMR) set including plant-based sauces, and plans to continue launching new Tofu Noodle products.
