Yoon Seok-yeol and Lee Jun-seok Hold Sudden Meeting to 'Confirm Consensus'... "More Than Half of Uncertainty Removed"
Emphasizing Similarities and Synergy, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon Announces and Cancels Sudden Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, and former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl met on the 25th and confirmed that there is no disagreement between the two sides on joining forces for regime change. Although there was no clear statement regarding Yoon's entry into the People Power Party, both sides did not hide that they confirmed a consensus. The meeting was described by both sides as "Daedongsoi (大同小異)" and "synergy."
On this day, Lee and Yoon met at a restaurant in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. During this gathering, which included drinks, Lee and Yoon concluded their conversation and faced reporters with bright expressions. After the meeting, Lee said, "I will express today's meeting in four characters," adding, "In a four-character idiom, it is Daedongsoi," and stated, "We will move forward for the common goals we want to achieve." This was interpreted as a subtle indication that there is not much difference in views between the People Power Party and Yoon, and that they share the goal of regime change.
Yoon said, "I think the time to decide which path I should take is approaching," adding, "Basically, I believe things should be predictable. We must not make the people anxious, and in any case, I think any decision must be made for regime change." He continued, "Our leader (Lee) readily agreed with that, and I plan to meet and communicate with him frequently to learn a lot."
Lee then said, "Many concerns among party members about former Prosecutor General Yoon's direction should have disappeared," adding, "For opposition unity and winning the presidential election, there will be many roles in the process of reducing uncertainty. More than half of the uncertainty has been eliminated." He said, "I think a consensus will be reached through close exchanges between Yoon and our party members," and added, "If there were concerns during the tense relations over the past few days, they are mostly unfounded."
On this day, Yoon also respectfully expressed his regard by getting Lee to sign a book about him and saying things like "I will take guidance," and "Although it may not be known outside, he has imparted a lot to me."
