E-book Rental 'BookDream' Expanded to 10 Books Per Person
Loans Available to Teachers and Dropout Students as well as Elementary, Middle, and High School Students
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The e-book service 'Book Dream' will allow students and teachers to borrow up to 10 books per person.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Education, Lotte Scholarship Foundation, and Kyobo Bookstore announced that the Book Dream project will be launched from the 26th to support non-face-to-face reading activities for students and teachers during the summer vacation.
The Book Dream service was operated for two months starting in April last year due to difficulties in using libraries caused by COVID-19, during which 82,863 students borrowed 85,071 e-books.
Now entering its second year, the Book Dream project has significantly expanded its target users, scale, and the number of books that can be borrowed.
Starting this year, teachers and students participating in the learning support project for compulsory education stage preschool and school dropout students (hereinafter referred to as dropout students) are also eligible to use the service. The borrowing limit has increased from 4 books per person to up to 10 books per person this year.
Dropout students can also use the Book Dream service by applying individually on the learning support website. Elementary, middle, and high school students and teachers can access and use the service through the existing school reading education comprehensive support system without separate membership registration.
The Ministry of Education plans to cooperate with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to utilize Book Dream e-books as teaching materials linked to the curriculum even after the start of the second semester.
