[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] The rescue helicopter has departed for the base camp after Captain Kim Hongbin (57), the first disabled person to reach the summit of Broad Peak (8047m) and complete climbing all 14 Himalayan peaks, went missing.
According to the Gwangju City Accident Response Committee on the 24th, around 5:45 PM local time (1:45 PM local time), two rescue helicopters departed from Skardu, Pakistan. The rescue helicopters plan to pick up rescue team members at the base camp and move to the accident site.
Earlier, Captain Kim went missing after falling off a cliff while descending following his summit of Broad Peak on the 18th. It is estimated that Captain Kim fell from a cliff near the China border.
