[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A drug offender was caught by the police thanks to the quick thinking of a judge who reported a passenger sitting next to him on the subway using drug-related slang while sending messages on his mobile phone.
According to the police on the 24th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, at around 7:50 PM the previous day on charges of trading marijuana (violation of the Narcotics Control Act).
B, a sitting judge who was commuting home by subway, witnessed A sitting next to him using drug-related slang and exchanging messages with someone via text on his mobile phone, and reported it to the police. B was reportedly familiar with drug-related slang as he had presided over trials involving drug offenders.
